Myths and Misconceptions

It's totally out of the question for a person to be mastered, manipulated or put in a trance against his/her will. All states of Hypnosis allow you control.

Is Hypnosis Sleep?

A hypnotized person does not sleep, on the contrary, he/she can be more aware of what is happening in the world around him/her than in a normal state of mind, as the senses usually work better.

Can I be tricked with hypnosis?

Nobody can ever be persuaded against her/his own will. Anyone of normal intelligence and ability to concentrate are able to experience the hypnotic condition (this means that seriously mentally challenged persons, very young children and persons affected by drugs cannot be included in this category).

Will I be powerless?

During the trance you are not immobilized or paralyzed. You know exactly where you are at all times. You can change your sitting position, scratch yourself, sneeze or cough.

Is it like what I have seen at a club?

We do NOT do Stage hypnotism. It is not about entertainment it is about assisting you with hypnotherapy.

Can you get stuck in hypnosis?

No one ever gets “stuck” in hypnosis. If the Hypnotist left the room two things would happen: 1) You would drift into natural sleep, and after 5 or 10 minutes you would wake up naturally. 2) You would notice no one talking and open you eyes feeling fine.

Is it a Natural State?

Some examples of everyday states of trance are - daydreaming, crosswords, absorption when reading a book, watching a movie. Some forms of meditation can also be considered trance-like.

Who can perform Hypnosis?

It is important that the Hypnotherapist is trained and certified.

How can Authentic Self help?

We can offer the services of a Certified Hypnotherapist See Facilitator .

Authentic Self follow the Code of Ethics of the regulatory body the National Guild of Hypnotists. NGH-ethics

How we do it ?

'Authentic Self' Hypnosis has been developed as a '3 stage program' to achieve optimum results.

Session one - Explores exactly what you are working towards (goal setting), teaches specific breath work and a Self hypnosis technique which will engage the process. This is also a tool you can use for the rest of your life.

Session two - Full hypnosis by the facilitator. Specific induction, followed by a tailored script and a customized post hypnotic suggestion that is designed to work specifically for you.

Session three - Final Hypnosis session uses an embedded command and anchor to ensure completion and total success.
